Police Chase Stolen Car In Rockland

Police said they searched for the person using a tracking dog and a drone, as well as on foot.

SPARKILL, NY — Police chased a stolen car through several Rockland towns until the driver abandoned the vehicle in the Town of Orangetown and ran off. The pursuit began around 1:45 p.m. Sunday and police were still searching for the driver after 5 p.m.

Police said they were alerted to the stolen vehicle by a license plate reader while the car was parked in Stony Point, the Journal News reported.

The driver took off, eventually leaving the car behind the Orange & Rockland substation on Route 340 around 2:15 p.m.
