Police ID Pedestrian Killed Friday In New City

He was hit by a Chevy Tahoe on Route 304.

NEW CITY, NY — Clarkstown police have released the identity of the pedestrian killed by a Chevy Tahoe on Friday. He is Frederick Maehrlein, 68, of New City. The investigation is still ongoing and there have been no summons issued or arrest made.

Police received a report Friday evening of a motor vehicle accident involving a struck pedestrian at the intersection of Route 304 and Congers Road. They found a man trapped beneath a Chevy Tahoe. The driver and passengers of the Tahoe were uninjured, police said.

Route 304 was closed for hours between Third Street and Calvary Drive for clean-up and while Clarkstown Police Department Accident Investigation Team examined the scene.
