Rapid Job Growth In 3 Hudson Valley Regions

See 10 local jobs in NY's hottest sector and find more opportunities on New City Patch.

Twelve metro areas in New York added private sector jobs over the past year, according to new data from the state Department of Labor. Three Hudson Valley mini-regions were among the six with the most rapid employment growth from July 2016 to July 2017:

  • New York City (+2.8%)
  • Kingston (+2.5%)
  • Orange-Rockland-Westchester (+2.0%)
  • Watertown-Fort Drum (+1.6%)
  • Dutchess-Putnam (+1.4%)
  • Nassau-Suffolk (+1.3%)

Private educational and health services added the most jobs (+75,500) of any major industry sector over the past year. Sector job gains were mostly in health care and social assistance (+54,600), especially ambulatory health care (+29,900).
