Robles Retiring From Catholic Charities Of Rockland

From Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland County: Martha Robles has announced her retirement as Executive Director of Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland, effective July 20, 2018. Robles, who has served as Executive Director since 2006, will be honored for her meaningful and enduring contributions during a Farewell Retirement Party set to take place on Thursday, June 28th, 6 p.m., at the Nyack Seaport.

“There are no words to express the gratitude, joy and personal fulfillment this position has offered me,” Robles said. “This role provided me wonderful opportunities to use my knowledge and skills to serve my beloved community and those most in need. This agency truly embodies what I myself believe and value above all… ‘service to others.’ I've been truly blessed and honored to serve as the Executive Director, and I will miss everyone greatly.”

Robles, during her tenure with CCCSR, received numerous awards for her dedication and commitment to those most in need. In May of 2017, The Rockland County Bar Association bestowed upon her its Liberty Bell Award, recognizing Robles for her outstanding service in promoting a better understanding and respect for the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and our institutions of government. She has also been honored with the Advocate Award by the One2One Learning, Inc. of Nyack and received the Women’s Leadership Award from Camp Venture. In October she received a Distinguished Service Award during Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month from the Rockland County Legislature for helping hundreds of the county’s residents with everything from unpaid electric bills to filling out forms, finding housing and suitable child care. Robles was also honored with the Virginia Atkins Beasley Lifetime Achievement Award last October from Rockland County’s branch of the NAACP.

“Martha will be sorely missed at Catholic Charities,” said Joan Facelle, M.D., M.P.H., CCCSR Board Chair. “Her dedication to those in need has driven the organization for over a decade and, and as a direct result of her efforts, we have been able to develop the first food pantry with a garden and greenhouse to provide fresh produce to families in need and provide critical support to the immigrant community during a very difficult political environment. I would also add to Martha’s long list of achievements, her tireless advocacy on behalf of the poor and her compassionate response to those who fled the earthquake in Haiti.” Most recently His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan visited Catholic Charities in Haverstraw to meet Robles, the staff and those who support and utilize CCCS Rockland’s services, and to bless the soil of the garden and greenhouse.

A replacement is now being sought to fill the Executive Director position. This appropriate individual will provide leadership, ensure fiscal responsibility, carry out and develop programs and represent the agency in accordance with the mission and vision of the organization under the direction of the Board of Directors.
