WEST NYACK, NY — On Sunday, in celebration of Memorial Day, the Rockland Buffalo Soldiers will hold an honorable veteran service at Mount Moor Historical Cemetery.
Mount Moor Cemetery, preserved by the Historical Society of Rockland County, "has provided burial space…including veterans of the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World Wars I and II, and the Korean War. The grounds have been maintained since 1940 by the Mount Moor Cemetery Association, Inc.”
The Buffalo Soldiers is a label first given to members of African-American cavalry regiments of the U.S. Army who served in the western United States from 1867 to 1896, noted for their courage and discipline.
