Rockland Honors Its Government Officials For Support of Marriage Equality Act
On Wednesday the community will celebrate the involvement of Senator David Carlucci, Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffe, Assemblyman Kenneth P. Zebrowski on same-sex marriage vote.
The VCS (Volunteer Counseling Service) is honoring three government officials for their support in passing the .
The event on Wednesday at the will host state Senator David Carlucci (D-New City), Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffe (D-Suffern), Assemblyman Kenneth P. Zebrowski (D-New City) and community members who wish to acknowledge Rockland’s delegation to the New York State legislature.
“Gay New Yorkers are our friends and neighbors, our colleagues, our family and our loved ones,”said Senator . “I am proud that we have rejected discrimination and have paved the way for future generations to live in a State that treats them with the respect they deserve,” he added.

Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee, also spoke positively about the passage of the act.
“New Yorkers can draw deep satisfaction from their state leading the nation on what is a critical issue of justice, fairness, and progress in our time,” she said.

“Separate is simply not equal," said Assemblyman Kenneth Zebrowski. "One of the cornerstones of our American society is equal protection under the law and finally that basic right will be extended to same sex couples.”
The event will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m and will include a cash bar and complimentary Hors d’oeuvres. Donations from $1 to $33 are recommended for each of the Senate's "yes" votes.
