POMONA, NY — A fire overnight at 286 Quaker Road in Pomona killed the homeowner.
The neighbor who saw flames at 3 a.m. told Hillcrest firefighters the man could be inside, and he was found unconscious in a bedroom, The Journal News reported. Emergency personnel performed CPR and he was taken by ambulance to Nyack Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Responding to the scene to help the Hillcrest Fire Department were were firefighters from Monsey, Spring Valley, Suffern, Thiells and West Haverstraw, according to Rockland Fires. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
