Rockland Lawmakers Thank Moroney, Low-Hogan For Their Service

The Republican and the Democrat leave the Rockland County Legislature Dec. 31.

NEW CITY, NY — Rockland County Legislature Chairman Toney L. Earl led a special recognition ceremony Tuesday to honor Legislators Patrick Moroney and Nancy Low-Hogan for their years of public service.

“It was an honor to work with Legislators Patrick Moroney and Nancy Low-Hogan over these last several years,” Earl said later in a press release. “Both deserve to be acknowledged for their years of public service and their devotion to the residents of Rockland County.”

Earl was joined at the front podium in the Legislature’s Chambers by the 14 legislators who were in attendance at the start of the board’s meeting. Moroney and Low-Hogan were each presented with an award that read, “In Recognition Of Your Service To The People Of Rockland County.”

Moroney, a Republican from Pearl River, has served since Jan. 1, 1990. He decided not to seek reelection and will conclude his current term on Dec. 31.

Low-Hogan, a Democrat from South Nyack, has served since Jan. 1, 2012. She narrowly lost a reelection bid and will conclude her current term on Dec. 31.

Legislature Minority Leader Lon Hofstein also presented a nameplate to Legislator Moroney after designating him Honorary Minority Leader. The plate included Moroney’s name and the honorary title.

“On behalf of the entire Legislature, I offer our best wishes to both legislators in their next pursuits,” Earl said.
