Rockland Coronavirus: Microcluster Subsides, Cases Inch Up
The 'hot spot' where cases spiked in early October has been downgraded to a yellow zone.
ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — Rockland County's micro-cluster coronavirus spike may have subsided but the county, like the rest of the Hudson Valley region, is dealing with rising cases as the second wave of the pandemic rolls in.
Rockland's hot spot earned a downgrade to a yellow precautionary zone on Friday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced. It had been downgraded to orange from red the week before. SEE: Rockland Coronavirus Update: Micro-Cluster Attack Working.

However, cases are up across the county. As of Monday, there were 1,370 active cases, up from 992 a week before and 50 people were hospitalized, according to the county's COVID dashboard. In Rockland, 181 people tested positive over the weekend, according to state data.

In the first wave of the pandemic 646 Rockland residents died of COVID-19 (March to June). The death toll was up to 690 as of Monday, according to the county's dashboard.
The whole Hudson region has seen a steady rise in cases.
