Safety & Change Center Wins $10K Grant For Play Therapy

This grant from Westchester Community Foundation will help to increase our capacity to deliver innovative programming to youth.

From Center for Safety & Change:Center for Safety & Change, Rockland County’s victim service agency, has been awarded a $10,000 grant from Westchester Community Foundation to expand staff training in play therapy services for traumatized youth to increase access for young people and their families.

“As the sole crime victim service agency in Rockland County, Center for Safety & Change provides free and confidential services to thousands of victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and all crimes, including children and youth,” said Center for Safety & Change Executive Director Elizabeth Santiago. “Children & Youth Services is one of our fastest growing and most in-demand programs. This grant from Westchester Community Foundation will help to increase our capacity to deliver innovative programming, including play therapy, to children and youth who have experienced or witnessed violence.”

“Very often, young victims of violence stay silent, unsure about who the trustworthy adults are in their lives. The sand play therapy provided by the Center for Safety & Change offers the space and time for young people to begin the healing process in a safe place, with people they can trust. We are more than happy to provide support for such an important program,” said Laura Rossi, Executive Director of the Westchester Community Foundation.
