Clarkstown Town Clerk anticipates that he will see a surge in couples coming into his office to obtain legal recognition for their marriages. As town clerk, Sweet is the town's official marriage officer and performs civil wedding services.
With the passages of the Marriage Equity bill last Friday, Sweet thought that he would get lots of calls about marriage arrangements. However, Sweet said the flood has not yet started. It'll be a month before the new law takes effect.
