Senator Carlucci & Advocates Hold Town Hall on School Safety

Sen. Carlucci & Advocates will discuss how the pandemic has impacted gun violence, and how we can make our schools safer.

(New City, NY) - Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) will be joined by school safety advocates, Jadyn Turner and her father, Jordan Turner to discuss how the pandemic has impacted gun violence, and how we can make our schools safer at a virtual town hall on Monday at 4:00 p.m.

Jadyn and Jordan are cousins of 14-year-old Alyssa Alhadeff, who was killed 2 years ago at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL. Now they are working with Carlucci to pass Alyssa's Law, which would require silent panic alarms be installed in schools to help protect students, faculty, and staff.

Alyssa's mother and father, Lori and Ilan Alhadeff have made it their mission to work with lawmakers to pass this legislation in every State and started the non-profit, Make Our SchoolsSafe, dedicated to protecting students in schools. The group was influential in getting New Jersey, where Alyssa originally grew up, to be the first State in the nation to sign the bill into law on February 6, 2019.
