Sheldon Silver Convicted on All Charges
The ex-Assembly speaker will be forced to relinquish his seat in Albany.

Ex-New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver was convicted Monday on seven counts of federal corruption charges.
The 71-year-old Manhattan Democrat received almost $4 million in exchange for helping a cancer researcher and two real estate developers, the New York Times reported.
Because of the conviction, Silver can no longer hold the Assembly seat he has held or nearly 40 years.

The Times said the jury’s verdict came on the third day of deliberations.
One of Silver’s attorneys, Steven F. Molo, was quoted by the Times as saying he was disappointed in the verdict.
