ShopRite Partners in Caring

Senator David Carlucci bagged groceries at the New City ShopRite on Wed. Sept. 19, 2018

Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) bagged groceries at the New City ShopRite on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018 to help raise funds for local food pantries in Rockland and Westchester Counties.

Local ShopRites for the month of September, which is Hunger Action Month, are asking customers to donate by rounding their total to the nearest dollar. Senator Carlucci not only asked shoppers if they wanted “paper or plastic,” but reminded them about the importance of donating to help end the hunger crisis.

Aside from rounding up your total, a customer can make a monetary donation or purchase any General Mills product, and proceeds will go to ShopRite Partners in Caring, which supports more than 2000 charities, such as soup kitchens, food pantries, homeless shelters, and senior citizen centers.

“It’s my job as a lawmaker to roll up my sleeves and take action to help our local food pantry like People to People in Nanuet,” said Senator Carlucci. “People’s support really makes a difference; ShopRite Partners in Caring has raised more than $44 million for local partners since 1999. I commend them on their work.”
