Sleeping Woman Rescued in Valley Cottage Fire this Morning
Two Clarkstown police officers broke in and got her out of the house.

Clarkstown Police rescued a sleeping woman whose house was on fire this morning.
Police said they responded to 16 Forest View Court in Valley Cottage for a report of a structure fire at 8 a.m. Nov. 24.
The single family house had flames coming from the rear when the patrol units arrived.

Officers Mike Valentino and Robert Fortune forcibly gained access and found the only occupant, a 67-year-old woman, asleep. They safely evacuated her. No one was injured.
The blaze was extinguished by Valley Cottage volunteer firefighters. The Congers Fire Department also responded.

According to a preliminary visit to the scene from the Clarkstown Fire Inspector, the fire did not appear to be suspicious. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, police said.
