Snow Estimates Rise For Hudson Valley's Saturday Night Storm

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Rockland and Westchester counties; further north the NWS has issued Weather Advisories.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The National Weather Service has upgraded its advisories. There's now a Winter Storm Warning for Rockland and Westchester counties. Dutchess, Orange, Putnam and Ulster counties are under Winter Weather Advisories.

The NWS now predicts that snow totals will be higher at the southern end of the valley, with accumulation from 4-7 inches in Westchester and Rockland, from 4-6 in Orange and Putnam, and from 2-4 in Dutchess and Ulster. That's quite a jump from Friday, when the NWS forecast 0-3 inches across the region.

All the advisories are in effect from 5 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday.

The steadiest snowfall will be between 2 -6 a.m., Hudson Valley Weather predicted.

Plan on difficult travel conditions across the region, and be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times.

For Rockland and Westchester, the NWS says:

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Check local Department of Transportation information services for the latest road conditions.
