Spectra to Start Compressor Station Expansion in Stony Point
It's part of the Algonquin Pipeline expansion through Rockland County, under the Hudson and through New England to export in Canada.

The Federal Energy Regulation Commission gave Spectra Energy the green light yesterday to start expanding its compressor station in Stony Point.
Spectra has filed plans with FERC to expand the pipeline in stages; so far, two have been delineated. The first, called AIM, covers compressor stations in Stony Point and Southeast plus about 37 miles of pipe including under the Hudson River. The second, called Atlantic Bridge, covers other short segments of the pipeline between New York and Canada.

At Stony Point, Spectra will install two new 15,900 hp natural gas-fired compressor units, restage one existing compressor unit, install gas cooling for the new compressor units, and modify station piping. In addition, under a separate but connected plan, it will remove four obsolete 2,700 hp compressor units at the Stony Point Compressor Station that will be replaced by a new 15,900 hp compressor unit.
