Spitting, Resisting Suspect Kept Fighting After He Was Tased: Cops

He was released without bail after being charged with a slew of crimes, but he was soon back in custody facing a new felony charge.

RAMAPO, NY — Police say an Airmont man really, really didn't know when to quit.

On Thursday, Town of Ramapo Police Department officers went to arrest an Airmont man for criminal tampering. The charge was connected to damage that he caused at a local convenience store, police said.

The 41-year-old didn't go easily, according to police officials. He violently resisted arrest, spit in the face and on the arms of several officers, while threatening to kill the officers, according to the cops. The man continued to struggle with the officers while they attempted to take him into custody, police said.

Eventually, the officers used a taser, but the man still had some fight left in him. He continued to resist to avoid his arrest, requiring an additional taser deployment, cops said.

The man was taken into custody and was taken to the hospital for evaluation. He was later brought to Ramapo Police Department Headquarters and processed for a few new charges, including criminal tampering , resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and harassment.

He was released on an appearance ticket, with no bail required and advised to return to court on a future date.

After being released, the man then went to a local hotel and caused damage, police said. He was arrested again and charged with felony criminal mischief. He is currently being held by police pending arraignment.
