Spring Valley Man Accused of Forging Community Service Paperwork

It's an obligation for those sentenced to complete it, the Rockland County DA said.

Sidney Lemoine of 61 Robert Pitt Drive, Spring Valley, New York was arrested Friday for allegedly submitting a phony document indicating that he had performed several hours of court-ordered community service as required for a previous court sentence.

According to the charges, Lemoine filed the letter with the Clarkstown Justice Court confirming that he had completed the community service through a local nonprofit organization, said Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe in announcing the arrest. It is alleged that the community service hours were never performed.

Lemoine is charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree, a class “D” Felony.

“Community service is an important obligation for those sentenced to complete it,” said Zugibe. “Faking it is a serious crime that often leads to criminal consequences and longer sentences.”

Lemoine, 37, was arrested by the detectives with the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Investigation Unit.
