Spring Valley Teen Pleads Not Guilty to Murder, Robbery Charges

New City, NY — The Spring Valley 16-year-old who was accused of murdering and robbing a fellow teenager appeared in court Thursday.

Jiwan Coleman, who is charged with two second-degree murder counts and first-degree robbery, all felonies, pleaded not guilty in Rockland County Court, according to an article at lohud.com.

Police said Coleman hit Ruben Suchite Torres on the head with a rock June 26 as Torres was returning home from a part-time job.
Torres’s family disconnected him from a ventilator July 2 because there were no signs of recovery and he died at Westchester Medical Center.
