Saturday night traffic halted by accident in southbound lanes in Clarkstown.

A State Police patrol car was involved in an accident Saturday night on the southbound Palisades Interstate Parkway in Clarkstown.

The crash just after 9:30 p.m. took place between the Exit 10 interchange in New City and the Exit 9 interchange in Nanuet just before the Ludvigh Road overpass. The accident involved a marked State Police car and an SUV, which overturned in the accident.

Traffic southbound on the parkway was stopped for more than an hour as a result of the accident and the clean up effort, creating an extensive back up on the parkway.
