Student Indicted in Spring Valley High School Stabbing Incident

One confronted the other in a school hallway March 11, according to the Rockland County DA.

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe today announced that Christopher Bermeo was indicted on one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a class “B” Felony, one count of Attempted Assault in the First Degree, a class “C” Felony and one count of Assault in the Second Degree, a class “D” Felony.

The charges are connected to the stabbing of a student at Spring Valley High School at 8:30 a.m. March 11.

Bermeo, 16, is alleged to have stabbed the victim, a 17-year-old, four times on the left side of his body—causing four puncture wounds to his upper left back, upper left side, lower left abdomen and left elbow.

“According to the charges, the defendant attacked the victim when he confronted him in a bustling school hallway,” Zugibe said in a press release. “The victim was stabbed four times and treated for serious injuries at a local hospital. The charges involve a violent assault with a dangerous weapon and will be vigorously prosecuted.”

Arraignment on the indictment is pending.

Bermeo, of 6 Maxine Court, Spring Valley, NY, has been held in the Rockland County Jail since his arrest. His bail status continues at $500,000.
