Taxi Driver With Kids In Car Accused Of Driving Drugged

The car itself had a suspended registration, the sheriff said.

A driver for America Latina Taxi of Spring Valley is accused of driving drunk Friday morning, with children in a car that had a suspended registration.

Sheriff Louis Falco III announced the May 10 arrest of Moises G. Esteves, 36, of Haverstraw. While working as a driver for America Latina Taxi of Spring Valley, he was stopped at 9:12 a.m. on Pomona Road in Ramapo by a Rockland County Sheriff’s Patrol Officer for having a suspended vehicle registration.

During the interview, the officer concluded that Esteves was intoxicated. In his vehicle were two 11-year-old children.

Esteves was placed under arrest and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, with children in the vehicle (Felony), as well as Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1 st (Felony), Criminal Posession of a Controlled Substance 7 th (Misdemeanor), Endangering The Welfare Of A Child (Misdemeanor) and Operating A Vehicle With A Suspended Registration.

Esteves was arraigned at Town of Ramapo Justice Court and remanded to the Rockland County Jail on $7,500 bail with a return court date of May 14.
