Thanksgiving Mitzvah Feasts
Thanksgiving at Temple Beth Sholom in New City is all about giving and sharing
Our Temple Beth Sholom Religious School and Nursery School donated food to make delicious Thanksgiving feasts for 10 needy families through Rockland's Big Brother/Big Sister program. Our 4th through 7th grade students cooked turkey stuffing, sweet potato casseroles, corn souffle and pumpkin bread, which was added to the turkeys cooked by our TBS families. Additional food such as mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and brownies were added to the boxed feasts. Boxes of food were also donated to People 2 People for their food pantry.
Our TBS students learn hands-on the meaning of "mitzvot" and "tikkun olam", which mean good deeds commanded by G-d to "repair the world".
