The Great Painted Paw Brigade Appears on Friday
A unique public arts project of life size animal sculptures will be auctioned to benefit North Rockland Rowing and Hi-Tor.
The Great Painted Paw Brigade is the first public arts project of its kind in Rockland County. Sixteen local businesses/organizations from Rockland County and the surrounding communities sponsored the purchase and painting of life-size dog and cat sculptures. The sculptures will be unveiled on Friday, March 2 at the Haverstraw Arts Alliance.
The sculptures were painted by a variety of local artists ranging from students and art educators to professional painters and illustrators. Each animal is a unique colorful interpretation of the artist and the sponsor’s vision. The sculptures will be on display at the sponsor businesses until May 25. On June 3, the sculptures will be auctioned to the highest bidder with from the sponsorships and sales of the sculptures going to the benefit North Rockland Rowing Club, Inc. and a portion earmarked for the Hi-Tor Animal Care Center.
