Three Families Displaced After Hillcrest Fire

RAMAPO, NY —A fire that started outside on the deck destroyed a house in Hillcrest overnight, leaving three families homeless.

The Hillcrest Fire Department was called to the blaze at 2:10 a.m. Ramapo police said it quickly spread to the inside of 12 Ibeck Court. The fire partially collapsed the roof into the second floor.

The residence is uninhabitable, police said.

Red Cross volunteers provided emergency assistance to one family and expect to help two other families who lived there, said Red Cross spokeswoman Carolyn Sherwin.

Among the fire departments that responded to assist Hillcrest were Spring Valley, Nanuet, Tallman, New City and Monsey.
