Another Car Hit by Train in Congers

A Nyack man tried to make a turn at Lakes Road

A CSX train traveling south hit a car at the Lakes Road Crossing in Congers just before 5:25 p.m. Saturday.

When Clarkstown Police responded they saw a 2012 Chrysler 4-door sedan had been struc.

The driver of the car, a 76-year-old Nyack man, had attempted to make a right turn from Lake Road onto North Rockland Avenue when his vehicle left the roadway and became stuck in the ditch between the track and roadway.

The driver was able to escape from the car without any injuries. There was no damage to the train and no injuries to the train workers. The crossing was closed down for 3 hours. CSX Authorities were on scene.

This is the second accident between a train and car at the same crossing in the last three days. The Thursday collision also involved someone trying to make a turn who got stuck. No one was injured.
