United Hospice Of Rockland Set To Speak After World Premier Performance of "The Shoemaker" In NYC

Representative will tell the audience about the organization's services after the Friday, July 15 performance at the Acorn Theater in Manhattan.

A  representative will be given the opportunity to share information about the organization after the world premiere performance of “The Shoemaker” on Friday, July 15th.

The performance starring Oscar nominee Danny Aiello will take place at 8:00 p.m. at the Acorn Theater, 410 West 42nd Street in New York City. 

Cause Celebre, a not-for-profit theater company committed to causes and charities, invited Laurie Meltzer Bandremer, United Hospice of Rockland special events coordinator and senior executive assistant,  to speak after the show about the services that hospice provides for the Rockland community.

“This event will give us exposure in NYC and the Tri-State Area,” says Bandremer. “If I can give someone the comfort to call Hospice for a loved one or learn about us in the two minutes that I am speaking, then I have done my service.”

“You never know who is in the audience and it doesn’t hurt to talk about the good work that we do at this wonderful organization,” says Bandremer.

United Hospice of Rockland is a nonprofit organization, which provides care, support, and information for those plagued by life-threatening illnesses. The organization, accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, creates a comfortable and loving environment for patients with advanced illnesses and their loved ones. 

The full-length stage version of “The Shoemaker” tells the story of a shoemaker, an Italian Jew who is forced to face his past, present, and future after his father sends him to America in the 1930s. The stage drama was also made into a film.The drama was made into a film which NBC film critic Jeffrey Lyons described as "...a daring movie which takes a lot of chances and comes up a winner...deeply moving and compelling.”
