See Police Rescue Groundhog, No Decision On Winter Yet

Will it see its shadow on Sunday? Here's the forecast.

RAMAPO, NY — Groundhog Day is coming up, but there are many wild cousins of Punxsutawney Phil and Staten Island Chuck who don't get a lot of attention. One of them got stuck in the chain-link fence behind the Stop & Shop supermarket on Route 202 in Pomona.

Ramapo police officers Michael Carbone and Matthew Murphy came to its rescue. The officers were able to cut the fence and free it.

Police officials on Facebook expressed the pious hope that it would not see its shadow on Sunday. But according to the National Weather Service, after a 20 percent chance of snow on Saturday, Sunday should be mostly sunny, with a high near 43.
