WCFR Wants You To “Remember You Are Not Alone”

During Mental Health Awareness Month, WCFR is educating community members about how to cope with stress and anxiety.

Spring Valley, N.Y. (May 7, 2024) – Worldwide Community First Responder, Inc. thrives to always bring support to our community threaten by all type of disasters. During May Mental Health Awareness Month, WCFR is educating community members about how to cope with stress and anxiety focusing on the youth mental wellbeing in our community. We are excited to announce the launch of the WCFR Youth Mental Health Project sponsored by Macy’s.

Stress and anxiety constitute a real threat to our youth’s wellbeing. It was reported that stress and anxiety are the world’s most common mental health disorder affecting 301 million people in 2019. In the United States, 31% of adolescents meet the criteria for diagnosable stress and anxiety by the age of eighteen. The United States faces a nationwide youth mental health crisis. The roots of this crisis existed before COVID-19, but the pandemic has both exacerbated and highlighted the scope of the challenges in addressing this issue. The time is right and the need has never been more apparent. Stress and anxiety, when not well managed, could have devastating consequences. Therefore, awareness of the signs, symptoms and alleviating measures are paramount.

The purpose of the WCFR Youth Mental Health Project Sponsored by Macy’s is to provide youth (ages 15-24) information on how to manage mental health during COVID-19. Pertinent information includes signs of stress and anxiety, how to relieve stress and anxiety, and when and where to get help. WCFR will be making presentations for schools, churches and youth groups in Rockland during the month of May 2024. For more information, contact us at info@wcfrworldwide.org
