Proliferation of Political Signs in North Hempstead

It must be November...political signs are sprouting.

Does anyone really believe that a sign on the side of the road is going to convince someone to vote for one candidate over another? Do the number of signs equate with the number of votes you hope to garner? Signs on public thoroughfares are unsightly, inappropriate and costly.

What is happening in this year's election is disgraceful. I saw a YouTube video of two people jumping out of their car, running onto a private homeowner's property and stealing signs for Jeff Bass. The homeowner has survelliance cameras on his property, but it is dark and you can't read the license plate. I have now seen photos of Kaiman/Dwyer election signs covering road traffic signs. I am sure there are just as many tales from the other side of the aisle. This is insanity.  We all know it is November because the political signs are sprouting.

On the flip side, I absolutely encourage all private homeowners who wish to put a sign on their front lawn to do so. This is true freedom of speech - I have done it myself. These signs are removed in a timely manner, unlike some signs that linger until Christmas.

Does anyone know how to ban political road signs covering our public byways and thoroughfares? Of course, since politicians create the law, it will never happen, but we can all dream. For me, I am putting it on my bucket list.
