Cooling Down at Paulie's in New Hyde Park
This local ice stand is one spot to go to cool off.
On a 90 plus degree Wednesday afternoon, Paulie's Italian Ices in New Hyde Park was one place that people went to cool down.
This business, right across the street from the and next door to , has been open since 2007. Owner Paul Wesoly started the business because he wanted to do "something fun" and added that "it's a good way to get the kids to work."
Paulie's has flavors of the month with June's being blue, Wesoly said. Other flavors include the classic lemon, chocolate, mint chocolate, vanilla chocolate chip, mango, banana, rainbow and cotton candy, to name a few.

The prices at Paulie's are as follows: $2 for a small, $2.50 for medium, $3 for large, $4.50 for a pint, $8.00 for a quart and $47 for a tub.
Wesoly explained that this business is "all weather related", although it does help that it's situated across the street from the library. When there are programs at the library, it can mean more people at Paulie's, Wesoly said. On Wednesday afternoon, there was a group of about 15 people from Our Lady of Victory school in Floral Park at Paulie's shortly after school let out.
