DPW Building Roof Damaged in New Hyde Park by High Winds

Part of the roof at the Town of North Hempstead Department of Department of Works has been damaged, according to town officials monitoring the situation in Westbury.

Monitors situated on the roof of the DPW building, located at 285 Denton Ave. in New Hyde Park, showed workers picking up shards from the structure with a bull dozer at about 5:15 p.m. 

North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman, at the command center in Westbury momitoring the storm, verified to Patch that part of the roof was damaged.

Fire department personell at the scene verified to Town officials that part of the roof from the two-story building had been damaged.

No injuries have been reported.
