Drunken Driver On LIE Had 2 Kids In The Car: Police
The woman's vehicle was swerving on the road and almost struck the center median on Monday night, police say.
A 23-year-old woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated on the Long Island Expressway with two of her children in the car on Monday night, police say.
According to authorities, a white BMW was pulled over after police observed the westbound vehicle failing to maintain the lane and almost striking the center median near Exit 40 at 11:50 p.m.
It was determined that the driver, New Hyde Park resident Dayna J. Gambino, was under the influence of alcohol while her daughters, ages 2 and 6, were passengers in the vehicle, police say.

No injuries were reported and the children were left in custody of a family member.
Gambino was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI (Leandra's Law), two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, DWI, DWI (BAC .08 percent) and several vehicle and traffic law infractions.

She will be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
