Elderly Driver Hits 3 Pedestrians in North New Hyde Park
BREAKING: Two women and a man were waiting at a bus stop when they were struck Tuesday night, police say.
A vehicle driven by an elderly woman crashed into three people waiting at a bus stop in North New Hyde Park Tuesday night, police say.
According to authorities, the 88-year-old woman was driving a 2009 Toyota Corolla eastbound on Union Turnpike when the car’s tire suffered a mechanical issue at 5:05 p.m.
The vehicle left the roadway and struck a Nassau Inter County Express bus stop in front of 1400 Union Turnpike, injuring a man and two women. A 20-year-old woman suffered a fractured femur and a shattered pelvis, a 43-year-old man suffered a laceration to the head and a 63-year-old woman complained of pain, police say.

The bus stop shelter was also knocked over and heavily damaged from the crash.
No criminality is suspected at this time. The vehicle was impounded for brake and safety inspections.
