Fall Chefs Series: Chayote and other Latin American Vegetables

Long Island’s talented chefs are coming Hicks Nurseries in Westbury this fall. In this popular free series, the chefs will demonstrate some of their favorites.   All sessions are one hour long and begin promptly at 11:00 am. The demonstrations are free and reservations are not necessary but space is limited. The chefs will provide tastes of what they prepare and recipes.

Chayote and other Latin American Vegetables with Roberto Herrera, the owner/chef, La Casa Latina, Westbury Interesting new vegetables and fruits from Central America are finding their way into the markets but those who haven’t grown up with these ingredients are sometimes at a loss as to how to cook them. This talented chef will showcase delicious vegetables such as chayote, izote, loroco and pacaya.
