Herricks High School Tri-M Honors Concert
Herricks High School held the first concert of the year on Wednesday.
Students showcased their musical talents for family, teachers and students at the Tri-M concert at on Wednesday.
The featured ensembles of the first concert of the year included the Chamber Choir led by Louise O’Hanlon, the Chamber Orchestra led by Robin Maddox and the Wind Ensemble led by Scott Stickley.
Herricks is home to Chapter 1975 of the Tri-M Music Honors Society, the international honor society for music students. The highly-acclaimed music department won International Chapter-of-the-Year in 1994, 1995, 1997 and 2005 for its member enrollment and participation.

The Chamber Choir performed three songs opening with "The Star Spangled Banner" featuring student Michael Esposito on the trumpet and finished with a Mongolian Folk Tune, "Magnificent Horses" which included a flute and sleigh bells.
"I'm very proud of the young men and women on stage," said Director of the Chamber Orchestra Robin Maddox. "They worked very hard and have done a wonderful job."

The Chamber Orchestra performed two songs, including "Of Glorious Plummage," a French impressionistic style piece that is supposed to depict birds.
The Wind Ensemble concluded the concert with three songs and finished with "Finnish Folk Song Suite."
"Being able to perform this early in the season is really good for us to get the juices flowing," said Scott Stinkley, Director of the Wind Ensemble.
The musical groups play next in December at Herricks High School.
