Herricks Students Shine at 2012 NYSSMA All State Conference

Three Herricks High School students performed during the annual New York State School Music Association All-State Conference, which was held from November 29-December 2 in Rochester this year.

Senior Kevin Wu was selected as concert master of the all-state string orchestra, which recognizes him as a top violinist in New York State.

Junior Angel Ding was named fourth chair violin in the all state symphony orchestra while classmate Joslyn Thomas was in the mixed chorus and will also be representing the district at the Eastern Division Festival which will take place in spring 2013 in Hartford, CT.

The musicians rehearsed over several hours per day under the tutelage of world renound conductors culminating in a spectacular concert at the Eastman Theatre in Rochester.
