New Hyde Park Among Most Expensive Houses in New York State
The area has some of the most expensive homes in the state, according to a Coldwell Banker survey.

New Hyde Park has some of the most expensive four-bedroom, two-bathroom homes in New York State, according to a Coldwell Banker Real Estate survey that came out on Wednesday. Ossining had the most expensive homes on the list and Niagara Falls had the cheapest.
The average price of a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in New Hyde Park according to the survey is $559,438. The area was ranked 148 of 164 areas in the state; it's the 17th most expensive housing.
The most expensive housing on Long Island, the survey says, is in Northport, which was second in the state after Ossining. Ossining has an average price of $919,986 and Northport's average is $864,375. After Northport was Long Beach with an average price of $778,790. Rounding out the top 10 after Ossining, Northport and Long Beach were Somers, New Rochelle, Yorktown Heights, Setauket, Brooklyn, Dix Hills and Manorville.

The methodology behind this survey involved looking at four-bedroom, two-bathroom homes on coldwellbanker.com that were listed between September, 2010 and March, 2011. There had to be at least 10 properties in the area that fit these standards, according to the report.
