New Hyde Park Memorial Students of the Month: May/ June 2013
These students were named as students of the month for their respective departments.
The following students at New Hyde Park Memorial have been named as students of the month for their respective departments and was submitted by the teachers of the respective departments:
Business/ Technology: Ancy Alexander
- Ancy has successfully completed four business classes, which included Business Communications, Career and Financial Management, Keyboarding and Computer Applications.
- She is currently enrolled in Web Page Design and Personal Finance.
- Mrs. Riley reports that Ms. Alexander is an outstanding academic student who is well mannered and very conscientious.
- Ancy not only excels in the classroom but in extra-curricular activities as well.
- She is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and recently attended the FBLA State Leadership Conference in Rochester, NY where she won fifth place in the team event, Management Decision Making.
- The year prior she won second place in the Business Communications event.
- In addition, Ancy is an officer of the Red Cross Club, SADD and SPEC (Students Putting an End to Cancer) and a member of the National Junior Honor Society.
- When she is not busy with her school activities, she finds time to volunteer at the Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center and she also works at the Glen Oaks Nursing Home.
- Ancy hopes to become a pediatrician on day.
- An outstanding tenor, Amato has demonstrated a high level of dedication to music organizations both here at NHP and locally on Long Island.
- In addition to his fine work in the NHP Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, he participates in the Metropolitan Youth Chorale (MYO), with whom he recently performed at Carnegie Hall.
- Amato has performed roles in the school musicals and, recently, he assisted with the NHP Talent Show (for students with and without special needs). He has been regularly selected for participation in All County and All District Festival Chorus and is currently serving as Co-President of our Concert Choir.
- Ana’s teachers report that she is a dedicated, hard-working student.
- She is also a leader in school, the community and on the field in her extracurricular activities.
- She is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and participates in Varsity Field Hockey, Winter Track and Lacrosse. She has been inducted into the Business Honor Society and World Language Honor Society.
- Over the summer Bisciello completed her Academy of Finance summer internship at Valley National Bank in New Hyde Park.
- “I very much enjoyed working at Valley National Bank this past summer. In my position, I met new people and faced new challenges as I learned about the world of banking,” she said.
- Next year Bisciello will begin her college career. Her first choice for school is to attend Scranton University.
- Her plans are to study marketing and minor in International Business.
- Her career goals include traveling the world promoting products.
- Josh Joseph is a student in Mrs. Pincay’s Spanish 3 class, a very hard-working and conscientious student who consistently achieves excellent grades in Spanish.
- Josh always has a positive attitude and approaches challenging course work confidently and perseveres to success.
- Kahn is an eighth grade student in Mrs. Doyle's American History and Geography class.
- For the third marking period, Amanda received a 96 grade point average.
- She is an enthusiastic student who is always participating in class, works well with others, and hands in excellent homework’s.
- She comes to class always demonstrating her eagerness to learn and strives to do her best.
- Nicole has been a key member of our music groups throughout her high school career.
- Among her many accomplishments, Nicole has lent her considerable vocal talents to our Senior High Concert Choir and Chamber Singers performing groups.
- She has participated in NHP school musicals for six years, taking on leading roles. As a result of seven years of exceptional performances at NYSSMA Solo Festivals, Nicole has consistently been selected for All County and All District Festival Chorus.
- Nicole has sung the national anthem at NHP football games and Special Olympics.
- Now a senior, Nicole is serving as Co-President of the concert choir.
- Deana is a ninth grade student in Ms. Livoti’s Studio Art class.
- In Studio Art, she has been learning a variety of new techniques in drawing, painting, digital design and mixed media artwork.
- She is incredibly hard-working and self-motivated.
- Deana goes above and beyond in her projects, often putting in extra time during her lunch period to make her projects just right.
- She does excellent homework and is always helpful and positive in class.
- This year her plaster wolf sculpture will be on display at CW Post, Long Island University’s 12x12 art competition.
- The New Hyde Park Art Department looks forward to all the great work Deana will continue to do and we hope to see her work in more art shows in the future.
- Matthew is an 11th grade student in Advanced Pre-Calculus.
- He has achieved academic excellence throughout the year and has a strong mathematical background.
- He exemplifies dedication, responsibility, integrity, perseverance, self-discipline, and honesty in the classroom.
- Matthew always has a smile on his face and is always willing to help his fellow classmates. His sincere personality contributes to class discussions and his participation impacts others around him.
- He possesses the ability and eagerness to learn new concepts taught in mathematics and is able to apply his learning in a creative way.
- He is a conscientious and determined student who thinks outside the box and is always ready for a challenge.
- Roth is one of the most outstanding 10A Regents Chemistry students that I have had the honor to work with here at New Hyde Park Memorial.
- She is a highly motivated, inquisitive, dedicated and hard working individual and an absolute pleasure to speak with.
- Her problem solving skills are exceptional.
- Morgan is also involved with the Key Club and is a member of the Sewanhaka Bowling team.
- It is no surprise that she is also an excellent artist and plans to take AP Art next year.
- Salomon is an extremely bright and creative student who writes beautifully with maturity and with deep emotion.
- Sara recently read her poetry at Poetry Night at the Hillside Public Library.
- As a student, she is delightful and is always adding insight to class discussions.
- Shah is a tenth grader, an advanced student and the president of New Hyde Park’s newly created reading club: G.E.A.R. (Get Excited About Reading!).
- Hen has worked very hard to create a place for students to read, discuss, share, and enjoy books.
- You can often find him in the library, talking with Mrs. Brusca about ways to improve and expand the club.
- In addition to reading, Shah loves to write, and often creates stories that explore different genres.
- He is on the tennis team and volunteers at a local hospital.
- He is always looking for new ways to help.
