NHP 'Builds a Better Tomorrow' at Homecoming

Students created floats that centered on ideas such as building better relationships, better communications and a better environment.

The New Hyde Park Memorial High School community demonstrated an abundance of school spirit during the school’s annual homecoming parade and game.

The theme for this year’s event was “Building a Better Tomorrow” and featured student-created floats that centered on ideas such as building better relationships, better communications and a better environment. As the students paraded down Jericho Turnpike, along with school and district administrators, the marching band boomed to the delight of the New Hyde Park residents lining the streets.

At the conclusion of the parade, students filled the stands at the school’s newly renovated athletic field for homecoming football game, where the Gladiators handily defeated John F. Kennedy High School, 38-10.

Student performances by the cheerleaders, the twirlers and the Romanettes thrilled the crowd during halftime, as did the crowning of the homecoming king and queen. Congratulations to John Stampfli and Alyssa Garcia!
