Memberships at revamped pools in North Hempstead have reached all time highs in 2012, town officials say.
, whose renovations now include a 25,000 square foot main pool area and 12,000 square foot bathhouse complex with event space and food service, re-opened in June 2011. Prior to its renovation, it had 1,278 members. In the 2011 season, the pool saw 4,443 memberships. So far in 2012, it has 4,790 members, up 275 percent since its overhaul.
While the pool has seen record membership, some residents some residents take issue with the pool's new design, especially since the pool as it was prior to the renovation.

Membership at the remodeled in New Hyde Park also increased. Back in 2007, it sold 1,394 memberships. The pool closed shortly after for two years of construction, reopening in 2010. In 2011, memberships increased to 2,793. And in 2012, membership climbed to 2,844 – a 104 percent increase since the renovation.
According to the town, all statistics were compiled by the Parks and Recreation Department utilizing RecTrac management and reporting software.
