Police Nab Alleged New Hyde Park Bank Robber

The man was arrested six months after the robbery occurred.

A Bohemia man was arrested Tuesday for his involvement in a New Hyde Park bank robbery that occurred in July, police said.

On July 10, two men entered Valley National Bank, located at 699 Hillside Ave., shortly after 4 p.m. and each passed a demand note to tellers, police said.

The tellers complied and handed over an undetermined amount of cash. The men fled on foot westbound on Hillside Avenue, police said.

Following an investigation, authorities arrested 43-year-old Joseph Mancuso. He is being charged with second degree robbery and was arraigned Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.

There were seven employees in the bank at the time of the robbery. No injuries were reported.
