Police Nab Alleged New Hyde Park Bank Robber

The man was arrested at Rikers Island where he is being held on an unrelated charge.

Authorities say they have arrested the man responsible for robbing a New Hyde Park bank in February.

Christopher Pabon, 34, of Long Island City, was arrested Wednesday at Riders Island where he is being held on an unrelated charge.

On Feb 1, police say Pabon entered Valley National Bank, located at 699 Hillside Ave., approached a 41-year-old female teller and handed her a note demanding money at 4:38 p.m.

Pabon fled on foot eastbound on Hillside Avenue with an undetermined amount of cash, police say. No injuries were reported.

Pabon was charged with third-degree robbery and will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday.
