Voter's Guide: NHP-GCP 2017-18 School Budget, Board Election
What you need to know for election day.

New Hyde Park-Garden City Park residents will vote on the school district’s $38,215,400 proposed budget for the 2017-18 school year on Tuesday, May 16.
The proposal calls for a 1.83 percent increase in spending over the current year and the tax levy increase is 2.08 percent, which is within the tax levy limit.
The school district estimates the average homeowner will see a $0.19 daily increase and a $67.62 yearly increase.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Michael J. Tully Park, located at 1801 Evergreen Ave. in New Hyde Park.
Two incumbents are running unopposed for two seats on the Board of Education, Newsday reports. They are Tara Notine and James Reddan.

The Sewanhaka CHSD budget is independent of the elementary budget and is a separate vote. The community is responsible for about 26 percent of the HS tax levy.
