$1 Million Yonkers International Trot Set at Yonkers Raceway
Sweden's On Track Piraten and Italy's Oasis Bi have accepted invitations to the 38th edition of the race.
Sweden’s On Track Piraten and Italy’s Oasis Bi have accepted invitations to the $1 million Yonkers International Trot set for Saturday afternoon, October 15, at Yonkers Raceway (810 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers NY). The 38th edition of the 1¼-mile global classic will attract the finest trotters in the world. The United States, Canada, France, and Norway are among the countries also expected to participate.
First post time for the matinee card at Empire City Casino's historic half-mile oval is at 2:00 pm.
Oasis Bi was a fast closing fourth, while On Track Piraten wound up seventh in last year's revival of the prestigious worldwide stakes by raceway and casino president Tim Rooney after a 20-year hiatus. The 2015 International Trot winner, Norway’s Papagayo E, is sidelined by injury and unable to defend his title.
“All of us are looking forward to this race, and we have been working very hard to assemble another world-class field,” the raceway's racing secretary Steve Starr said.
