17 Years For 49-Year-Old New Rochelle Man Who Impregnated A Child

The sexual predator threatened to burn down the victim's home with her family inside if she reported the sexual abuse.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A Westchester man who commited unspeakable abuse against an 11-year-old girl learned his fate today.

Braulio Ramirez was sentenced on Tuesday to 17 years in prison, with 20 years of post-release supervision, for engaging in sexual conduct with a child, which resulted in a pregnancy, Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced today.

Between October 2019 and September 2021, starting when the minor was 11 years old, the 49-year-old subjected the victim to intercourse and other sexual acts on multiple occasions, which resulted in the victim becoming pregnant. During the course of the sexual conduct, Ramirez threatened to burn down the victim’s home with her family inside if she reported the abuse.

The New Rochelle Police Department arrested Ramirez on September 29, 2021.

In August, Ramirez entered a guilty plea to a course of sexual conduct against a child in the first degree, a violent felony and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. He will be required to register as a sex offender after completing his prison sentence.

The case was before Judge Susan Cacace in Westchester County Court, and was prosecuted by Child Abuse Deputy Bureau Chief Owein Levin and Assistant District Attorney Brittany Burk, both of the Special Prosecutions Division.
