NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Where did the summer go? The first day of school is just around the corner. With that in mind, here are important dates for the 2017-18 school year in the New Rochelle School District.
- Labor Day (school closed): Sept. 4
- Staff only (no school for students): Sept. 5
- First day of school, half day for elementary schools: Sept. 6
- Rosh Hashanah (school closed): Sept. 21-22
- Half Day All Schools (professional development): Oct. 2
- Columbus Day (school closed): Oct. 9
- Half Day NRHS Only — PSAT: Oct. 18
- Election Day (staff only; no students): Nov. 7
- Veterans Day (school closed): Nov. 10
- Thanksgiving (school closed): Nov. 23-24
- Half Day Elementary Schools Parent-Teacher Conferences: Dec. 6
- Half Day Elementary Schools Parent-Teacher Conferences: Dec. 13
- Holiday recess: Dec. 25-Jan. 1 (school resumes Jan. 2)
- Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday (school closed): Jan. 15
- Half Day All Schools, Professional Development: Jan. 29
- Winter recess (school closed): Feb. 19-23
- Half Day Elementary Schools Parent-Teachers Conferences: March 5
