AAA's 'School's Open' Campaign Launched in New Rochelle
The safety program is conducted in conjunction with local governments and police departments.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — AAA Northeast’s annual “School’s Open—Drive Carefully” program was launched at New Rochelle Police Department.
In its 71st year, the program alerts drivers to be cautious while behind the wheel as children return to school.
Police Officers Erick Aguilar and Alan Silverman joined local school children to help AAA kickoff the program, organizers said.

It’s important for drivers to be careful in school areas to keep their speeds at or below the posted limits and should be prepared to stop—on both sides of the street—for school buses with flashing red lights, as required by New York State law.
The AAA’s Donna Galasso, assistant director of the Traffic Safety unit, said the campaign is conducted with local governments and police agencies which adds to its effectiveness.

“We appreciate the efforts of Officer Aguilar, Officer Silverman and the New Rochelle Police Department which helps to increase safety for all students,” she said.
