Air Quality Alert for Westchester, Rockland

The state has a toll-free number to call on the air quality situation.

The National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert for Rockland and Westchester County until 11 p.m. Wednesday.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation said the air quality index value are predicted to be greater than 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone.

People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated pollutants, including the very young, and those with pre-existing respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease, should limit strenuous outdoor physical activity during this time.
